Abstract:
Leaky mode losses and steady state distribution are investigated in this paper in a W-type optical fiber made of glass; this is a doubly clad fiber with three functional optical layers. Results are shown as a function of wavelength for parametrically varied depths and widths of the fiber’s intermediate optical layer so that configuration of the W-type fiber could be tailored to suit an application at hand.
