Apstrakt:
The research on the behaviour of road users can be conducted using the method of self-assessment. In accordance with the generally accepted definition of methods, the self-assessment method represents premeditated and planned acting with the aim of reaching the previously established goal. The objective of the self-assessment method is obtaining the knowledge about the behaviour of road users in the defined area. The suggested method is extremely complex since it contains a series of procedures which must be conducted. It consists of six basic steps required for achieving reliable and quality data, and each step is exceptionally complex and has a major impact on the final result. This method represents a multidisciplinary approach to research in traffic safety, and this approach provides objective results of behaviour measurement, which also indicates the practical usability of this tool. Bearing in mind that the proposed method has shown its functionality in research conducted on the territory of the Republic of Serbia, it is proposed to use this unique, unified method for self-assessment of behaviour of road users and in other areas of the environment.
