MIXTURE OF CLAY AND FIR NEEDLES AS MICRO ARMATURE

Abstract:
Earth building is widespread and is still largely based on traditional experiences. Testing the earth mixtures with other natural materials has shown that it is possible to get the quality of standard bricks. More precisely, preparing and placing the mixture, allows it to set the standards for this type of construction. In addition to the basic composition of the earth, which varies depending on the location of the excavation, the traditional experience tells us about different supplements that are used to repair characteristics during the construction. Additives can be organic or of organic origin (lime, sand, animal blood, cow faeces) as a repairs of basic mixture, then the different fibers in the form of micro armature (hair, chaff, chopped straw, algae, needles of evergreen plants and etc.) different stalks of plants as micro armature (cane, hemp, tree branches). Laboratory testing conducted in this case show the possibilities of application of fir needles and show how mechanical characteristics of the earth with such applied a micro armature change. Since the tests were performed with the earth from the same source as with other types of examined mixtures, the results are comparable and useful for practical application.
